The Day Has Come...

The day has finally come. EMERGE is finally here. Even as I typed this post, it's only 6 hours away from the grand opening...

There are a few things I would require every of our cluster member to do:
1) Please sit together in the cluster during the service so that we all can cheer together. (Look for a Local U banner)
2) Please come and support for the Talentime at 30 Aug 2pm in the CHC Main Hall. Your votes will determine if our finalists win.

Thank you so much. Let's make the EMERGE experience a memorable one!

Local U will forever ROCK!!!

Winners of 24 August

Hi guys, for 24 August Track & Field events, what used to be dominated entirely by the MINT, we have managed to take some for ourselves. Our Kepong runners have helped us got 4 golds for the following events:

Secondary Level
100m Male - Choy Jian Khai (His friends call him "Iron Man". For those of you who saw him in action during the running, you'll know why.)
4x100m Male - Choy Jian Khai, Tan Kok Leong, Saw Chun Zirn, Wong Jia Jun
1500m Female - Anitha
4x100m Female - Serena, Natasha, Leong War Yee, Sanggitha

From left to right: Sanggitha, Leong War Yee, Natasha, Serena
Our champion girl runners from Kepong!

Great job to all of them!

Basically MINT took 11 golds home. But honestly speaking, without our Secondary team of runners, MINT could have taken more. So I would say, it's still a remarkable achievement for our cluster to grab some golds in these MINT-dominated events. The medal tally, as of 24 August will look something like that:

MINT 20 golds
Local U 18 golds
SMU 11 golds
VU 6 golds

Guys, don't worry about the current ranking. I believe it's only a temporary state. There are more golds lined up for us next Emerge weekend, and I strongly have the FAITH that our cluster can climb up to the top again.

But we need to work harder for next week. For Talentime, Beauty Pageant and Manhunt, it seems that a certain portion of our finalist's marks will be based on SMS voting. Trust me, the SMS-es will make a lot of difference. I strongly encourage all of you to come and support our finalists for the three different events. Every of your SMS vote counts! Every of your SMS will ensure that our finalists can win the first place. But in order for that to happen, you have to be around during the competition to be able to vote. So I hope to see you during these competitions and support our finalists!

Let's not give up, but let every Local U members keep on fighting till the very end!

Let's achieve the impossibles together!

Word Power!

Batt low. Remaining brain power: 5 minutes left.

One thing I'm proud is that our Local U Word Power (Huey San, Derek, Jonathan), despite facing many unfortunate setbacks and ended up the last team in Round 1, they fought on with full spirit and chased up to the 2nd placing by the end of Round 2. Very remarkable comeback! Congratulations to them for getting 1 silver medal for us! They did a great job!

Talentime: Joey Lai, the Mat Kool of Local U. Somebody please get him to sign on your shirt!

Talentime: Kevin Khoo and his band - "To all Local U participants! Kau boleh! Yakin boleh!"

Preaching Challenge: Our fiery preacher Paul shared about how he laid hands on a computer in the shopping complex and then got it as a gift. Hmm...if your birthday is coming soon, start laying hands on your dream gifts in Sunway Pyramid!

Preaching Challenge: As I took the pulpit, Keith quoted, "Can let Local U cluster leader preach meh?" I'll take that as a compliment!

Preaching Challenge: Brian Hew, as cool as cucumber, preached his heart out.

Picture Speaks a Thousand Words, Part 1

A good blog must have picture and visuals. So I've decided to add a few photos which I managed to snap from my little mini Nokia phone. Have a enjoyable time looking through them! Perhaps after Emerge one day, you can look through all these photos and have a good laugh together...

Lookalike contest: Agnetha, Phoebe and Aleetha of the POS team. Guess which pair are the real sisters?

During a POS practice, Joyce tending to Melinda, who can't stop laughing after a hard fall from some stunt. This is masochism...

Some yummilicious beef cooked during Iron Chef competition...

The POS team diligently listening to their sifu Khen's talk on "101 Guide to Be a Good POS Team". (From left to right: Melvin, Steven, Leonard, Michael, Ah Long, Celine)

A hardworking POS team at work!

And last but not least, hmm...what is Yee Lin doing in the Gent's room? Psst...psst...scandalous!
